1: SOUTH AFRICA, CEDERBERG MOUNTAIN REGION

We depart Cape Town and drive north to the spectacular Cederberg region. We spend some time this afternoon learning about what to expect as well as the vehicle and equipment.

2: NAMIBIA, NAMAQUALAND - ORANGE/GARIEP RIVER

We travel through Namaqualand and to the Gariep/Orange River. The night is spent getting to know one another over a hearty meal.

3: ORANGE/GARIEP RIVER – FISH RIVER CANYON

In the morning we have the opportunity to experience the Gariep/Orange River by canoe, or spend some time relaxing. After lunch we travel north to visit the Ai-Ais Hot Springs and overnight close to the mighty Fish River Canyon. Optional Activities: Half -Day Canoe Adventure.

4: FISH RIVER CANYON - KOKERBOOM FOREST

After an early breakfast we take a scenic walk along the rim of the Fish River Canyon. After visiting the canyon we travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. On the way we will visit the Kokerboom (Quiver tree) Forest.

5: BUSHMAN COMMUNITY – NAMIB-NAUKLUFT PARK

This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung tribe will have the chance to do so. Later we drive west towards the massive dunes of Sossusvlei. Optional Activities: African Tribal interaction

6: NAMIB-NAUKLUFT NATIONAL PARK

When we enter the Sossusvlei area we are joined by a local expert to learn about the unique desert ecosystem. After the tour you can hike up Dune 45 for some photos or take a rest, before an afternoon excursion to the small Sesriem canyon.

7: SWAKOPMUND

Today we cross the Tropic of Capricorn on our way through the desert. Our first stop is Walvis Bay where we may see some flamingos. On arrival in Swakopmund you will be briefed on the different optional activities available. Optional Activities: Dinner, Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights etc.

8: SWAKOPMUND

This day is left free for you to explore the town or try one of the many adventure activities. Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sky diving, Sand boarding, scenic Flights etc

9: HIMBA TRIBE

This day is left free for you to explore the town or try one of the many adventure activities. Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sky diving, Sand boarding, scenic Flights etc

10 & 11: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast we enter Etosha NP for some superb game viewing. We will visit water-holes to wait for the animals to come and drink as well as explore as much as we can of the NP. It may sometimes not be possible to overnight in the park due to availability.

12: WINDHOEK

On our way to Namibia’s capital city we stop at a craft market so you can purchase some authentic African creations. Windhoek is situated at almost the exact centre of Namibia. In the afternoon we’ll take you on a short tour of the city. Optional Activities: Dinner at Joe’s Beer House.

13: BOTSWANA, GHANZI

We take a scenic drive to the Buitepos border, where we enter Botswana. Once at the lodge we meet with a local Bushman community and see some traditional Tribal Dancing.

14/15/16: MAUN AND OKAVANGO DELTA

Maun is well known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We spend one night in this remote town and prepare for this excursion. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to Gunn’s Camp for the next 2 nights. Animals are often spotted from the lodge, but we also take a nature walk and, if the water level allows, a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip.

17: GWETA

A second scenic air-transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Gweta where our evening accommodation is unique, and a little quirky.

18: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

We drive north to Kasane, where we stay on the bank of the Chobe River. We take an afternoon river cruise in order to visit Chobe NP’s animals as they come down to the river to drink.

19: ZIMBABWE, VICTORIA FALLS

After crossing into Zimbabwe we have a short briefing on all the activities available here. Then we enter the much anticipated Victoria Falls NP where we will experience the might of the great Zambezi River. The popular optional sunset cruise includes dinner and drinks. Optional Activities: Chobe Game Drive, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, dinner in local restaurant.

20 & 21: VICTORIA FALLS

Most people will spend the day white water rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion and many more.

22: ZAMBIA, LUSAKA

Leaving behind the excitement of Victoria Falls we begin our expedition. The journey towards the bustling Zambian capital of Lusaka takes us along an interesting route.

23: CHIPATA

We begin today with some shopping in Lusaka before heading northeast towards Chipata. This is an interesting area full of friendly locals.

24 & 25: SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

Early in the morning we drive from Chipata to the border of the South Luangwa NP where we spend two nights on the riverbank. The next day we visit the community run tribal textile project and a local village. Later this afternoon we enjoy a guided sunset game drive in South Luangwa NP. On occasion, in the rainy season it is impossible or inadvisable to attempt to reach South Luangwa NP, if this happens an alternative itinerary will be chosen. Optional Activities: Guided Morning Game Walk in South Luangwa NP

26 & 27: MALAWI, LUWAWA FOREST

Today we cross the Zambia-Malawi border after leaving South Luangwa NP in the early morning. Heading north we enter the highlands of Malawi and spend the night at Luwawa Forest. Optional Activities: Fishing, Mountain Biking, Hiking.

28-31: LAKE MALAWI

We will spend the next couple of carefree days relaxing on the white sandy beaches. For the more adventurous there are endless leisure and water sport activities. Alternatively, soak up the atmosphere and relax in one of the most memorable holiday destinations. Optional Activities: Scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing, fishing, canoeing, horse riding

32: TANZANIA, IRINGA

As we ascend out of the Great Rift Valley through some spectacular mountain passes, we pass the vast tea plantations in the highlands to our camp outside Iringa.

33: IRINGA TO DAR ES SALAAM

It is a long drive from Iringa to the historical port city of Dar es Salaam. We actually transit through Mukumi NP, but we do not have time to stop and explore.

34/35/36: ZANZIBAR

A local ferry will take us from Dar es Salaam (where we leave the truck) to Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar. We spend the first night in Stone Town where you will have time to explore the markets and unique architecture. The following day we take a transfer to the northern part of the Island where we will spend 2 days relaxing on the beach. Optional Activities: Meals, Spice Tours, Dolphin Tours, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling.

37: ZANZIBAR- DAR ES SALAAM

Today you leave Zanzibar and catch a late ferry (or flight) back to Dar es Salaam and return to the campsite.

38: DAR ES SALAAM – ARUSHA

Today we take a long and scenic drive to Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania. After arriving in Arusha, those who are going to explore the Serengeti National Park, prepare for their excursion.

39 & 40: SERENGETI - NGORONGORO

Today we have the opportunity to go on a three-day trip into the Serengeti. For those not going to the parks, take this time to relax and absorb some of the fascinating local culture. Optional Activities: Serengeti & Ngorongoro Excursion.

41: ARUSHA

Today we visit a local Masaai village. Tonight we enjoy a final meal around the truck and talking about the adventures we have had together.

42: KENYA, NAIROBI

After crossing the border into Kenya we continue to travel towards Nairobi and the end of our journey. Although our tour has ended some groups like to spend this evening at local restaurant. Optional Activities: Dinner at Carnivore Restaurant
