1: GEELONG - MELBOURNE - BALLARAT - MILDURA

Morning departure from Geelong or Melbourne travelling to Ballarat with its gracious old buildings a legacy of the gold mining era. Continue travel through the endless wheat fields of the Wimmera whose flatness is punctuated only by small rocky outcrops. After, time to freshen up and enjoy a delicious dinner in the motel's restaurant. O/N: Mildura

2: MILDURA - BURRA - FLINDERS RANGES

Early start this morning travelling to Renmark and enter South Australia. Leave the Murray River at Morgan and head for the historic copper mining town of Burra for a town tour. Time for a stroll around Paxton Square. Afterwards travel through the foothills of the Flinders Ranges to our accommodation on a station property for the next three nights. (Accommodation on station property is in 2 bedroom units with ensuite facilities.) O/N: Merna Mora

3: FLINDERS GORGES

Start our exploring today with a trip to the Gorges surrounding Wilpena Pound. The display of wildflowers is breathtaking (in season) carpeting the whole region with masses of colour. Visit Brachina Gorge and on through Aroona Valley then up to the mining town of Blinman and onto Parachilna Gorge. Enjoy your picnic lunch amongst the gum trees today together with billy tea. 4: WILPENA POUND

Moralana Scenic Drive along the creek is the setting this morning with its stately river red gums, wildflowers (in season) and views towards Wilpena Pound. On with the walking shoes and take a stroll into Wilpena Pound itself to marvel at the view as you look over the rim into the Pound itself. During the day see where pioneers put shoes on the bullock teams. Optional scenic flights available over the Ranges late in the day from the airstrip (approx $125.00). Tonight is our last night in the Flinders so we swing into party mood and enjoy outback hospitality. O/N: As above

5: FLINDERS RANGES - CLARE - BAROSSA VALLEY - MANNUM

Sadly depart this idyllic spot this morning and travel to Quorn, a restored rail town nestled in a valley in the foothills of the Ranges. Travel the lower Flinders foothills then follow the scenic route through the small settlements of Wilmington, Laura and Gladstone. Pass through the Clare Valley stopping off at Sevenhill Cellars. Travel through the original wine growing region in Australia – Barossa Valley on the way to the historic paddle steamer port of Mannum with time to explore the town before dinner. O/N: Mannum

6: MANNUM - BALLARAT - MELBOURNE

Depart this sleepy historic town crossing the Murray on the ferry then follow the river to Murray Bridge. Skirt the edge of the picturesque Grampians on the way to Ballarat with its many heritage listed buildings before arriving in Melbourne and Geelong late afternoon.
