These tours are suitable to the majority of travelers as the level of physical requirement is low. Some walking may be involved, normally of relatively flat ground. Most of these tours operate in countries that have good infrastructure (roads, accommodation, meals etc).
The level of physical fitness increases as the tours start to head to areas that are more remote. Activities may involve walking up/down uneven ground such as walking into Canyons or climbing sand dunes (such as Dune 45 in Namibia). The level of infrastructure drops so road conditions may deteriorate and accommodation becomes standards reduce. On camping tours some nights of bush camping ( no facilities) may be introduced.

Malaria Area. Many local people and some travellers do not take malaria prophylaxis, but most health professionals recommend you do. Consult your doctor or a specialist travel clinic for the latest advice concerning malaria prophylaxis, as it changes regularly.
Notes:
Some departures may have a German translator on board. All tours conducted in English. Accommodated tours are intended as an upgraded camping product, therefore keep in mind that the accommodation is 1-2 star lodges and chalets. In some spots permanent tents may be used. Towels are not always provided so passengers to bring own towel. Travellers over 65 are welcome on the tour however a medical certificate is required stating that they are fit to travel on such a trip. Your flight into the Delta is in a small plane that has strict luggage conditions - soft bags 12kgs. Reccommend to just take day pack/overnight bag into Delta.

1: SOUTH AFRICA, CEDERBERG MOUNTAIN REGION

We depart Cape Town and drive north to the spectacular Cederberg region. We spend some time this afternoon learning about what to expect on tour as well as the vehicle and equipment.

2: NAMIBIA,NAMAQUALAND AND ORANGE/GARIEP RIVER

We travel through Namaqualand and to the Gariep/Orange River. The night is spent getting to know one another over a hearty meal.

3: ORANGE/GARIEP RIVER – FISH RIVER CANYON

In the morning we have the opportunity to experience the Gariep/Orange River by canoe, or spend some time relaxing. After lunch we travel north to visit the Ai-Ais Hot Springs and overnight close to the mighty Fish River Canyon. Optional Activities: Half day Canoe Adventure.

4: FISH RIVER CANYON - KOKERBOOM FOREST

After an early breakfast we take a scenic walk along the rim of the Fish River Canyon. After visiting the canyon we travel further inland to the Kalahari area of Namibia. On the way we will visit the Kokerboom (Quiver tree) Forest.

5: BUSHMAN COMMUNITY – NAMIB-NAUKLUFT PARK

This morning those who wish to spend some time with the !Kung tribe will have the chance to do so. Later we drive west towards the massive dunes of Sossusvlei. Optional Activities: African Tribal interaction.

6: NAMIB-NAUKLUFT NATIONAL PARK

When we enter the Sossusvlei area we are joined by a local expert to learn about the unique desert ecosystem. After the tour you can hike up Dune 45 for some photos or take a rest, before an afternoon excursion to the small Sesriem canyon.

7: SWAKOPMUND

Today we cross the Tropic of Capricorn on our way through the desert. Our first stop is Walvis Bay where we may see some flamingos. On arrival in Swakopmund you will be briefed on the different optional activities available. Optional Activities: Dinner, Quad biking, Sand boarding, Sky Diving, Scenic Flights etc.

8: SWAKOPMUND

This day is left free for you to explore the town or try one of the many adventure activities. Optional Activities: Quad biking, Sky diving, Sand boarding, scenic Flights etc

9: HIMBA TRIBE

Heading inland, we drive north towards Kamanjab where we meet with the local people from this area. The Himba are a pastoral people and predominantly breed cattle or goats. Encountering a totally different way of life can be a moving experience for many people.

10/11: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Travel onto Etosha National Park. Etosha is a unique game viewing experience due to its salt pan base and flood lit water holes. Head out on various game drives and spend the evenings at the abundant water holes watching the procession of animals coming in to drink. Note: On some occasions accommodation may be outside of the park

12: WINDHOEK

On our way to Namibia’s capital city we stop at a craft market so you can purchase some authentic African creations. Windhoek is situated at al most the exact centre of Namibia. In the afternoon we’ll take you on a short tour of the city. Optional Activities: Dinner at Joe’s Beer House.

13: BOTSWANA, GHANZI

We take a scenic drive to the Buitepos border, where we enter Botswana. Once at the lodge we meet with a local Bushman community and see some traditional Tribal Dancing.

14/15/16: MAUN AND OKAVANGO DELTA

Maun is known as the gateway to the Okavango Delta. We spend one night in Maun preparing for the excursion into the Delta. Small planes transport us over this amazing area to Gunn’s Camp for the next 2 nights. Animals are often spotted from the lodge, but we also take a nature walk and, if the water level allow, a mokoro (traditional canoe) trip.

17: GWETA

A second scenic air-transfer will return us to Maun and the truck. This afternoon we drive to Gweta where our evening accommodation is unique, and a little quirky.

18: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

We drive north to Kasane, where we stay on the bank of the Chobe River. We take an afternoon river cruise in order to visit Chobe NP’s animals as they come down to the river to drink.

19: ZIMBABWE - VICTORIA FALLS

After crossing into Zimbabwe we have a short briefing on all the activities available here. Then we enter the much anticipated Victoria Falls NP where we will experience the might of the great Zambezi River. The popular optional sunset cruise includes dinner and drinks. Optional Activities: Chobe Game Drive, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, dinner in local restaurant.

20: VICTORIA FALLS

Most people will spend the day white water rafting, a not -to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion and many more.

21: VICTORIA FALLS TO PALAPYE, BOTSWANA

Departure is at 6 am from Elephant Hills Hotel. If you would like to avoid Zimbabwe you can arrange a transfer from Zambia to Kasane where you will be collected at about 7.30 am. It is a long and uneventful drive through Botswana to Palapye where we will spend the night.

22: PALAPYE TO JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

Another 6 am departure will ensure that we cover the next 750 km and get to Johannesburg as early as possible. We do not advise any onward travel on this day as arrival time can vary.

23: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Leaving behind Johannesburg, the city of gold, we head through the province of Mpumalanga to the world famous Kruger National Park. The next two days a re spent exploring the southern part of this vast reserve and we stand a good chance of sighting elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo, Africa's famed “Big Five”, on our game drives in the truck. Optional activities: Evening game drive.

24: KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

Our game drives continue and an early start usually rewards us with some great sightings. Keep your eyes open for the diverse bird life and some of the more elusive animals. An optional night drive with one of the South African National Park rangers is an excellent way to see some of the nocturnal animals. Optional activities: Evening game drive, morning walk with park ranger.

25: TRADITIONAL CULTURAL VILLAGE - TIMBAVATI

After a morning game drive in the truck or an optional game walk, we leave the Kruger NP and head for Timbavati. In the afternoon we visit a Shangaan village, and then make our way to a wildlife concession area adjacent to the KNP. This evening we experience an evening game drive. Tonight’s game drive allows us another opportunity to view the mysterious nocturnal creatures that inhabit the African bushveld. Optional activities: Morning walk with park ranger.

26: PANORAMA ROUTE

We complete our Kruger Park experience with an early morning game walk, before heading back towards Johannesburg. We will be travelling the Panorama Route through some spectacular scenery. Blyde River Canyon, the 3rd largest canyon in the world, offers breathtaking view points, including God’s Window and three Rondavels. The Bourke’s Luck Potholes are the fascinating results of erosion caused by the River. Tour ends on arrival in Johannesburg. Optional Activities: Dinner
